Best MSP Marketing Agency? 12 Questions to Ask Before You Sign

No single agency is the best MSP marketing agency for every MSP business (managed service provider). The best fit answers four things in writing: full price, minimum term, website ownership and how they measure results. We read nine agency websites in September 2026. Only one said who owns the website. None explained how they measure AI search.

Why not just read a "best MSP marketing agency" list?

We searched "best msp marketing agency" on Google on 23 September 2026. At least 10 list articles showed up. Agencies wrote most of them, including Rubicon, BigOrange, Opollo and C4 Solutions. Most authors put themselves on their own list. 100Signals says it leaves itself off. Still, no list can tell you what a contract says.

So this post doesn't rank anyone. It gives you questions for your shortlist.

What do MSP marketing agencies publish on their websites?

We read each agency's home, pricing and service pages. Here is what we found.

What does the table tell you?

Four of the nine agencies publish prices. Two publish a clear contract term. Only MSP Launchpad says who owns the website. Its page says the design and original copy "belong to MSP Launchpad". You may use them "as long as you make use of our service." Your own blog posts and images stay yours.

At least they put it in writing. Many owners never ask. They find out on the day they leave.

Seven of the nine mention AI search. None explain how they measure it. ChatGPT gives different answers each time you ask. A single screenshot proves nothing. A real check asks the same question many times. It then reports a ratio, like "named in 6 of 10 runs."

Here's the core point. The facts you need most are missing from agency websites. Your questions have to pull them out.

The 12 questions to ask before you sign

Money and contract

1. What is the total monthly cost, with every add-on? Why it matters: Pronto lists Google Ads from $500 a month and link building from $1,000 a month. Add-ons like these stack up fast. A good answer: "Here is one number for month one and one for month six. Here is what costs extra."

2. What is the minimum term? Why it matters: BigOrange asks for six months on its inbound plan. Pronto says it has no long-term contracts. The range is wide. A good answer: "Six months minimum, then 30 days' notice. It's in clause 4 of the contract."

3. How do I cancel, and what does it cost? Why it matters: A short term means little with a big exit fee. Ask for the exit steps in writing. A good answer: "Email us. We stop billing after 30 days. There's no fee."

Ownership

4. Who owns the website, domain and hosting account? Why it matters: MSP Launchpad keeps the design and original copy. Other agencies don't say. You need to know before you pay. A good answer: "You own the domain and the code. We'll hand over every login on day one."

5. Who owns the blog posts and pages you write? Why it matters: Your content builds your search traffic. Losing it resets you to zero. A good answer: "You own every word we write for you. You keep it if you leave."

6. Whose name sits on the Google Business Profile, analytics and ad accounts? Why it matters: Some agencies set these up under their own login. You then lose the history on exit. A good answer: "Your company is the owner. We join as managers."

Results

7. What result do you promise, and what happens if you miss it? Why it matters: Jumpfactor mentions a lead guarantee. MSP Launchpad promises two free months after a ranking miss. The details decide their worth. A good answer: "Here's the exact promise and the exact remedy. Both sit in the contract."

8. How do you define a lead? Why it matters: A form fill is not a sales call. Agencies count leads in different ways. A good answer: "A lead is a booked call with a business of 10+ staff in your area. We show you each one."

9. What will I see in the first 90 days? Why it matters: SEO is slow. MSP Launchpad's own page talks about month 6 and month 15. You need early signs. A good answer: "Month one: fixes done. Month two: new pages live. Month three: first ranking moves."

10. What goes in the monthly report? Why it matters: In a February 2024 Clutch review, a Jumpfactor client gave five stars. The client still said "we talked about visibility and reporting a few times." A good answer: "Tasks done, pages published, calls booked, and cost per call. We walk you through it live."

11. How do you measure AI search, and how often? Why it matters: Seven of our nine agencies mention AI. None explain a method. Answers in ChatGPT change from run to run. A good answer: "We ask 20 buyer questions, 10 times each, across three AI tools. We report your share of those answers."

12. Can I talk to two current MSP clients? Why it matters: The agency picks the case studies on its own site. A phone call is harder to fake. A good answer: "Sure. Here are two owners. One joined last year. One has been with us for three years."

What should you do with the answers?

Send the same 12 questions to three agencies. Ask for written answers. Compare them side by side.

Watch for two red flags. The first is a promise to rank you in ChatGPT. There is no fixed ranking in ChatGPT to promise. The second is a vague reply on ownership.

Where does AI search fit in this choice?

AI search work overlaps a lot with SEO. The main extra is measuring answers across many runs and several AI tools.

GeoCited, our agency, studied 524 Clutch reviews of AI search agencies. We published it on 8 September 2026. Only 11.6% of reviews described real AI search work. Every confirmed buyer had paid an agency for SEO or content first. So your main marketing agency still matters most. Get the basics working first. Then add AI search.

Frequently asked

What is the best MSP marketing agency?

No single agency is best for every MSP business. The best fit states its price, minimum term, website ownership and reporting method in writing. Ask each agency the same questions. Then compare the answers.

How much does an MSP marketing agency cost?

Published prices vary a lot. On 23 September 2026, BigOrange listed $4,880 a month for inbound marketing. Tortoise and Hare listed $5,000 a month for content. Five of the nine agencies we checked publish no prices.

Should I sign a long MSP marketing contract?

Push for a short term. BigOrange lists a six-month minimum on its inbound plan. Pronto Marketing says it has no long-term contracts. Always get the exit steps and any fees in writing.

Do I own my website if an MSP marketing company builds it?

It depends on the agency. MSP Launchpad's page says it keeps the design and original copy. You keep the content you add. Most agencies we checked don't state ownership. Ask before you sign.

Can an agency guarantee my MSP shows up in ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT gives different answers each time. There is no fixed ranking to guarantee. A good agency tests the same questions many times. It then reports a ratio.
